Taking that first step...

Updated: Apr 2, 2018

Have you ever faced the dilemma of whether to take action and seek help for that niggle in your body or not? It has perhaps appeared periodically over the years and then disappeared after a few days but this time your body is talking a bit louder.

What do you do?

Do you put up with the discomfort in the hope it will soon go away like the previous times? Do you ignore the niggle and its message for you or take painkillers so you can carry on and get on with your day? Or do you see the pain this time as a moment to stop and ask yourself what is this all about? What is my body trying to tell me?

Our bodies are amazingly, sensitive, wise and finely tuned vehicles, whose natural way of being is one free form pain and flowing in its movements. Any deviation from this is a point towards illness and disease. Our niggles are our body’s way of saying “Hey Bud, there is something wrong here – time to stop and take a look at how you have been living”

Taking that first step and saying yes to stopping, accepting and feeling the pain that is there is actually great medicine in itself and you will find that if you give yourself time to do this you will then get a true feeling for what is support is needed. Whether it is gentle stretches, a massage, a visit to your GP or physiotherapist, there are many different ways you can support yourself that your body will thank you for. After all, as your oldest, wisest and most trustworthy friend your body is so worth looking after.
